Jeff Henkel
Jeff Henkel is a Project Manager/Designer for the Traffic Signal Design Section and is responsible for managing and overseeing the signal design projects. He is responsible for getting the approvals from the Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA), various counties and local jurisdictions for traffic signal modifications, installations, systemization, and traffic signal rebuilds.
ABOUT
Jeff has 42 years of experience in the traffic field with 34 years of experience devoted to the Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA) working in the Office of Traffic and Safety. Jeff started in the traffic signal shop where he gained 12 years of traffic signal installation, programming, repair and maintenance experience. Jeff then moved into the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) field and worked with the Statewide Operation Center where he gained knowledge on the statewide ITS, Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) program and communication systems. During this time, he repaired, maintained and helped install variable message signs, speed monitoring/counting stations and communication interfaces.

Jeff concluded his career with the Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA) within the Traffic Engineering Design Division where he picked up an additional 16 years of traffic engineering design experience before moving to Traffic Concepts, Inc. in the private sector.
